AUTHOR’S REAL NAME: James Jennings
SETTING: England, late 1800s
HEROINE: Clarissa Denbigh
GRADE: A

From Book: Trapped in a Victorian Story of O, Clarissa was trained at her father’s knee and her husband’s hand to endure everything. But when still others come to take her charge, Clarissa turns her power to please into a weapon.

MY THOUGHTS: I must say this book is filth at its finest. It’s extremely sexually graphic. It’s about a sixteen year old girl and her sexual exploits, spanning a couple of years. This book runs the gamut as far as sex goes. There’s more anal (between m/f and f/f) and lesbian sex than anything. There’s sex between Clarissa and servants, other women, and also incest, which I won’t get into, and orgies.

This book is too graphic for me to review any better than I have. I’ll just say if you like graphic sex, you should enjoy all 186 pages of this. All versions of this book are out of print and very pricey!

SIMPLY INSATIABLE by Kate Pearce

PUBLISHER: Aphrodisia May 2010
GENRE: Historical Erotic Romance
SETTING: England, 1800s
SERIES: House of Pleasure, book 5
MY GRADE: A

SYNOPSIS: No fantasy is too wild for Madame Helene's Pleasure House -- a brothel in Regency England where forbidden desires are more than welcome...

Lord Blaize Minshom is known throughout London for embracing every illicit longing -- the more scandalous, the better. When his estranged wife, Lady Jane, returns with an ultimatum to give her a baby, he flatly refuses -- even if it means she will turn to other men. Forced to watch Jane flirt shamelessly at the House of Pleasure, Minshom is enraged...and excited. The innocent girl he wed at seventeen has transformed into a voluptuous woman who still ignites a scorching hunger within him...

After seven years apart from her husband, Jane is now ready to settle their differences and start a family. But when she is reunited with Minshom, his attitude infuriates her -- and she is determined to teach him a lesson. Yet even as Jane accepts the attentions of other men, it is Minshom she truly wants. For she alone knows how to satisfy all of his wicked needs...

MY THOUGHTS: Well, this novel was certainly up my alley. I really enjoy m/m erotica and wasn't let down at all by this. Lord Blaize Minshom is a very dark, hard, angry and scarred man due to his terrible teen years and horrible father. He's a bit hard to like but I understand his anger and need to dominate his sex partners. I didn't really like or dislike the heroine, Jane. To be honest, I wish she hadn't been in the story. I have a hard time believing she could love her husband and not care that he's out having sex with lots of other people. I didn't think Blaize's feelings for her were believable at all. He says that he doesn't prefer men but I don't believe it.

My favorite characters are Robert Brown and Captain David Gray. Now there's a couple I could read about all day. Robert is very submissive and I feel sorry for him. To me, he seems really beatten down and I'd really like to know more about him. I would so love for them to be the stars of a spin-off series.

One of the best threesome sex scenes I'd ever read about took place in this novel and I won't soon forget it. Two thumbs up to you Kate Pearce! I do look forward to reading more from you. I'll be getting this entire series because I must know about all the characters in this novel who were introduced in the previous novels. I really want to know about Blaize Minshome and Lord Anthony Sokorvsky.

I don't like this cover at all because it looks contemporary.

SIMPLY FORBIDDEN by Kate Pearce

PUB INFO.: Brava, 1/25/2011
GENRE: Historical Erotic Romance
SETTING: England, 1822
SERIES: House of Pleasure, Book 6
MY GRADE: A

From Publisher:

Nothing’s More Satisfying Than. . .
With an unconventional upbringing and a reputation as a shameless flirt, Lisette Delornay-Ross is not your typical young lady of the ton. Unlike her peers, she is not afraid to follow her desires. And what she desires is Major Lord Gabriel Swanfield.

Fulfilling Forbidden Passions. . .
Returned to England after his harrowing ordeal as a war prisoner, Gabriel has shunned society. When Lisette brazenly confronts him, he feels an overwhelming stirring of lust. He’s sure she would never entertain the illicit desires he indulges at Madame Helene’s. But when he kisses her, he discovers her thirst for pleasure–and adventure–matches his. . .

MY THOUGHTS: This story takes place in England in 1822. The hero is thirty year old Gabriel Swanfield. He has dark hair and blue eyes and is bisexual. The heroine is twenty-one year old Lisette Delornay-Ross. She has light brown hair and hazel eyes. She’s got a twin brother named Christian.

I’m a big fan of this series, having read the two previous ones. I now consider Kate Pearce a favorite author. I enjoyed the sexual chemistry between hero and heroine and wasn’t let down by any of the intimate scenes. Gabriel is the kind of hero I like; slightly tortured. He has physical and emotional scars and was a war prisoner in Spain. He’s also the product of rape. He really has no family and is on bad terms with his two cousins.

The heroine is experienced sexually, which isn’t that common for historical romances. I like her personality but found her to be a bit childish at times. My favorite part of the whole novel is when she played a couple of sexual pranks on the hero. I thought that was genius of the author and original. It had me grinning from ear to ear. Lisette is a character I envy! You’ll have to read the book yourself to find out what I’m talking about. I doubt you’ll have any complaints.

I liked the secondary characters, especially the friends of Gabriel. The heroine’s brother Christian, I suspect he might get his own story and I wouldn’t mind if he did. At first I detected a bit of jealousy from him when it came to Lisette and Gabriel but I’m not sure if that’s true.

I enjoyed all the sex in the book, all nine or more scenes and was impressed by the explicitness of them. It’s just what I like and Kate knows how to deliver them. I did enjoy the first 2/3 of the story more than the last 1/3. It dragged a slight bit for me. Also, I didn’t find their love to be that believable. I was a bit uncomfortable with Lisette and her family being so open with one another with their sex lives. It made me cringe a little.

I couldn’t have been more pleased with this novel. I recommend it to any and all who like explicit romances. I rate it 4.5/5 stars.

CITY OF ASH by Megan Chance

PUBLISHER: Broadway, June 2011
GENRE: Historical Fiction
SETTING: Washington, America 1888
HEROINE: Geneva ‘Ginny’ Langley
NARRATION: First person
GRADE: B+

FROM PUBLISHER: When the great Seattle fire of 1889 leaves them with nothing to lose, two very different women discover a mutual passion for revenge.

Chicago socialite and art patron Geneva Langley has brought scandal to her family for the last time. Her latest and boldest act of immodesty is too much for her father to bear, and he banishes her to Seattle, along with her scheming, ambitious husband, Nathan. Seattle is a far cry from Chicago — the streets are muddy, the society backward, and Ginny feels stifled and alone.

Despite her considerable talent, Beatrice Wilkes is an actress whose dream of being a leading lady is fading rapidly. She can’t believe her luck when a new production gives her a chance at stardom, but Geneva Langley seizes the opportunity for her own and unwittingly crushes Bea’s last dream.

The two women engage in a fierce battle for center stage, but the great Seattle fire, which ravages the city, changes their fates and plans. In its aftermath, Ginny and Bea see an opportunity to change their lives: but it would mean banding together to enact a truly wicked plan. Their dark and perilous alliance will set them on the path to either redemption or damnation.

MY THOUGHTS: The heroine, 29, is in a dysfunctional marriage. She comes from wealth and her husband, Nathan, married her for it. He comes up with a plan to get his hands on even more of it. I think her father, not knowing of Nathan’s plan, helps him.

Geneva learns of the plan and devises a plan of her own. She asks Nathan’s mistress, Beatrice, to help her and help her she does. Plans change when she can’t get access to money. The new plan is silly and really farfetched, totally unbelievable and I was real disappointed in it. Despite that, I was interested in watching it all unfold.

My favorite character is the actress, Beatrice. She’s twenty-eight and has been an actress for thirteen years. Sadly, we didn’t learn anything of her background. She’s a jealous, self centered person and it was very surprising that she’d help Geneva out.

Geneva didn’t seem that interesting to me. I didn’t like that out of nowhere she wanted to become an actress. I also thought it strange that she didn’t seem too bothered by the fact her husband was cheating.

Overall, I was happy with this book but was disappointed by the plan and how it all played out during the last third of the story.

ORDEAL by Linda Lovelace

PUBLISHER: Citadel, 2005
GENRE: Nonfiction/Memoir
ORIGINAL PUB: 1980, ISBN 0517427915
MY GRADE: B

FROM PUBLISHER: Linda Lovelace became a household name in 1972, when Deep Throat--a film made for only $25,000--became the first pornographic movie ever to cross over to mainstream audiences, to the tune of $600 million and counting. Despite being the face that launched the film's phenomenal success, behind the scenes Linda was suffering unspeakable torture and abuse at the hands of her husband, Chuck Traynor, and she never earned a dollar from the film's huge success. A harrowing tale of the pursuit of happiness and the will to survive amid years of horrific abuse, Ordeal reveals the dark reality behind Deep Throat, and its star's tragic, yet ultimately triumphant, life.

MY THOUGHTS: I can tell you that this is the darkest, most disturbing book, fiction or nonfiction, that I’ve ever read. It’s downright disgusting and sexually graphic from start to finish. Linda is brutally honest and graphic. There is no fluff to be found here. The tone of this memoir is very serious. No joking around here.

Linda Boreman was born in New York to an abusive mother and a disinterested father. When she was twenty-one she met her future husband, Chuck Traynor. That’s when her downward spiral began. He set her up to be raped in a hotel by five men. He told her they were going there on business. When they got there he took her into another room, showed her a gun and told her she was going to go out there and have sex with them. So she did. I believe that was the only time she was actually forced to do anything. She chose to stay with him and be beaten by him for a couple of years until she finally got away. Once she even ran away to her parents and told them of the abuse. They showed no interest whatsoever.

The most interesting part of the memoir is the updated forward. It tells us that Linda had both breasts removed because of problems caused by silicone injections she’d had when she was 21/22. Then we learn of her death after being taken off life support after she was in a car accident in 2002.

Before you start to feel sorry for her or have any sympathy for her at all, remember that this woman had sex with a dog on film…and attempted to twice more, according to her. I learned that Hugh Hefner had a like of beastiality films and had quite a collection of them at the Playboy mansion. He even discussed them with Linda’s husband, Chuck. Linda once had sex with Hugh and claims that Sammy Davis Jr. fell in love with her while having a sexual relationship with him. She also watched Sammy perform oral sex on Chuck.

The memoir concludes with her telling us she’s married, on welfare and has a three year old son.

I don’t have anything good to say about this woman. She’s homophobic (based on her ‘fag’ comment) and unable to accept responsibility for anything that she’s done. Everyone else is to blame for her actions.

This book is disgusting but it’s worth reading if you have any interest in the porn industry. You will not believe the perversions that men and women are into. I give this book 4 stars/B. I sort of wish I hadn’t read it.

Lots of information about her can be found at Wikipedia. There's a sequel to this, Out of Bondage, ISBN 0818403861.

PATIENCE by Lisa Valdez

PUBLISHER: Berkley, April 2010
SETTING: England, June 1851
HEROINE: Passion Dare, 22
HERO: Matthew Hawkemore, 26
VIRGIN HEROINE? Yes
PART OF SERIES? Yes, book 2 of 3
GRADE: A for sex, C for plot

SYNOPSIS: A woman called Patience.
A desire that would put her name -- and love -- to the test...

Known for her exceptional beauty, Patience Emmalina Dare has been pursued by admirers ever since coming of age. But as suitor after suitor fails to inspire her love, or her desire, she is certain she will never find a man who touches her deeply. Until a passionate kiss with an enigmatic man awakens a powerful need in her. But can she reconcile her desire for him with her desire for a life that's her own? And what will she do when he shows her a part of herself she never knew existed?

When the secret of his illegitimate birth pushes Matthew Morgan Hawkmore from his place in society, the darkly handsome half brother of the Earl of Langley plots his resurrection and his revenge. Betrayed and abandoned by the women he believed loved him, he swears never again to be controlled by love. But despite his vow, he is unable to resist Patience, whose strength and self-reliance mask a need that he is perfectly suited to fulfill...

The heroine is red haired, green eyed Patience Dare. She's 22 years old.
The hero is 26 year old Matthew Hawkemore.

The story begins in England on the same day as Patience's older sister, Passion, June 30, 1851. Patience and Matt were already aquainted with each other, having met because their siblings were engaged to each other. The story spans about six months.

Like the authors previous novel, this one too is centered around much sex. Hardcore sex, to be exact. They begin a dominant/submissive sexual relationship from the start of the story. Sex dominates the story and there isn't a whole lot going on plotwise.

Matt, in the previous novel, found out he was a 'bastard' and that his real father was a gardener and his brother Mark is really his half brother. Because of that, his fiancee Rosalind Benchley calls off their marriage right at the beginning of the novel. Her father is now out to ruin Matt financially. Matt was told by a teenage boy he knows that there is some sort of secret about Rosalind being a 'bastard' too. So Matt has the boy snoop around the Benchley household to try and find evidence of it. So, honestly, that's all that really goes on here, that and sex. Passion, Mark and Patience's aunt Matty make quite a few appearances throughout.

Near the end of the story, Rosalind's father is responsible for causing an explosion at the coal mine that Matt owns. Matt sells it to someone else and discovers that Rosalind is not the one who is the bastard...it's her father that is. Matt plans to make that knowledge public in an attempt to ruin Benchley in all ways but Patience talks him out of it. Patience accepts Matt's proposal and Matt really wants a Christmas time wedding.

We find out through a letter some lady writes to her friend that Matt and Patience did get married.

I give the sex scenes in this book an A+ because they're so graphic. I couldn't have been more. I give the plot line, with Matt trying to find out if Benchley really is a 'bastard' and the coal mine explosion a C. That whole plot seems to have fallen by the wayside. The author has a problem writing anything that isn't sexual, in my opinion. She should have and could have done so much more with the Matt-trying-to-ruin-Benchley thing but she just didn't know how or just didn't want to. Regardless, the graphic sex more than made up for the rest. Not every book needs to be a great masterpiece. Some are really nothing more than one sex scene after another and I see nothing wrong with that.

I'm assuming the next book will feature Patience's younger sister Primrose as the heroine. If the sex in this one, book 2, was much more graphic than the previous one, Passion, I can't imagine how she'll top it with book 3. Overall, I have to say that yes, I did enjoy this novel.

THE DESIRE FOR DEARBORNE by V.B. Kildaire

PUB. INFO: Dreamspinner Press June 2009
GENRE: Male/Male Historical Romance
SETTING: England, 1800s
HERO: Leander Mayfield, 22
HERO: Julien Sutcliffe, 31
GRADE: A

From Publisher: Leander Mayfield is the only surviving son of a poor farmer… or so he believes until the day he learns he is in fact the new Earl of Dearborne. Still recovering from a lingering illness, the sensitive young man travels to Great Britain to claim his estate and embarks upon a bewildering new life.

Julien Sutcliffe, the Earl of Blackstone, is suffering from ennui. He’s tired and bored with all the finery and wealth and wonders about him. Then he meets this refreshingly naive American Earl, newly arrived in England, and suddenly the world comes alive around him again.

Irresistibly drawn to one another, Julien finds himself besotted, and Leander is equally smitten. But just when they think they may have finally found happiness together, Julien and Leander discover that something–or someone–is determined to separate them permanently.

MY THOUGHTS: This was an enjoyable read. It held my interest with no problem. Both lead characters are very likable. Leander seemed so sweet and innocent. Julian is a confident man who lives his life as he chooses. He isn’t worried about what society thinks of him. Julian was instantly attracted to Leander from the start and Leander was intrigued by Julian. I really liked the nine year age difference between them.

I didn’t care much for Leander’s brothers and thought the story could have done without them. There was a villain who did a dirty deed but when it was revealed to the reader who he was, it was no surprise; I’d suspected it was him.

There were four sex scenes and I wasn’t impressed with any of them. They were ordinary and not all that graphic, to my disappointment.

I was satisfied with the ending and would love for there to be a sequel. I would read this author again.

I received this from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

A PROMISE OF TOMORROW by Rowan McAllister

PUB INFO: Dreamspinner Press, 9/2011
GENRE: Male/Male historical romance
SETTING: England, 1818
HERO: Lord James Warren
HERO: Kyle Allen
GRADE: A

From Publisher: Lord James Warren, Viscount Sudbury, lives a quiet, safe, and predictable life alone on his estate in Suffolk, only traveling to London once a year to visit family and satisfy his more forbidden needs. But this year, his routine is shattered when his niece and nephew ask him to help a beautiful young man they’ve only just met.

Kyle Allen, alone and running from his abusive lover, stirs feelings in James he has long denied for fear of tarnishing his reputation and losing his family’s love. Though undeniably drawn to Kyle, James’s honor demands he keep that part of himself completely secret, even if Kyle is feeling the attraction as well, despite the pain and betrayal he’s recently suffered.

Assistance and a future for Kyle might be secured, but then they would face a choice: stay apart and continue leading half-lives… or risk everything for love.

MY THOUGHTS:

James: He’s thirty-four years old, over six feet tall, has brown curly hair and brown eyes. He’s the youngest of two. He lives alone and is very close to his nineteen-year old twin niece and nephew.

Kyle: He’s eighteen-ish, has dark hair and green eyes. He grew up in his older brother’s shadow and could never live up to his parents expectations. He was in an abusive relationship with a much older man, Victor Weir, and has been raped by him.

What an interesting story this was. It’s a true love story and James and Kyle are a perfect match. James really tried to fight off his attraction to Kyle but Kyle wouldn’t let him. Kyle is very young and vulnerable to everything. He’s very passive and wounded. They have to hide their relationship and I was hoping they’d find a way to be together.

There are three very graphic sex scenes. Knowing Kyle has been abused, James is very tender with him. I felt they were a perfect pair and that made me enjoy the intimate scenes more.

My two complaints are that I don’t think James telling his niece about Kyle was believable at all. We never learned about how Kyle came to be involved with Victor in the first place and I’d like to have known about it.

BLACK IVORY by Saliee O'Brien

PUBLISHER: Bantam, 4/1980
GENRE: Fiction/Historical Ro
SETTING: Mississippi and Louisiana/mid-1800's
PURCHASE: link
MY GRADE: B

FROM PUBLISHER: Ravished by her jailor...sold naked at the slave market...forced to flee for her life and her honor...the radiant, pale-skinned Hester was destined to suffer heartbreak and outrage because her parents were slaves. From the splendid vastness of Thornton Plantation to the dangers of escape and the horrors of captivity to the unexpected romance aboard a glittering showboat, she sought the one power great enough to reverse destiny's cruel course - the magic of one man's all-conquering true love.

SPOILER SUMMARY

PART ONE: THE RAPE
The story takes place in Mississippi and Louisiana in 1857. The story spans almost four years. The heroine is Hester, fourteen years old, born in January 1843. She's a slave on the Thornton Plantation, along with her parents, Sam and Lela Belle. They have no last name. Hester is very pale and could pass for white though her parents are very dark. She's got auburn hair and brown eyes. She's often called a 'white nigger' by everyone on the plantation. Her older brother died in infancy.

Philip Bennett, blond hair and blue eyes, is the eighteen year old cousin to George Drummond. George is the stepgrandson to the plantation's owner, Thorne Wabash.

Thorne's daughter, Rosalie, was married to George's father, Seth. They married when George was around nine. George is very sadistic and loves for the slaves to be whipped. Thorne is sadistic too. When slaves are whipped he has cayenne pepper, salt and lemon juice rubbed into the wounds. He even beat one to death and put the body in the pig pen with hogs that were kept hungry.

Phil and Hester have always been attracted to each other and have sex one day. Phil wants them to run away and get married. Hester can pass for white and no one would know she wasn't. She tells him no. Phil tells George that he loves Hester. George then tells his stepgrandfather, Thorne. Thorne sells her. Sometime before this, Hester is raped by Boss Murray, overseer of the plantation and put into jail. Her parents break her out.

PART TWO: THE SLAVE BLOCK
Hester is sold, nude on the auction block, to Edward Dalton, owner of Dalton Brokerage Company. She's to be his wife's seamstress. Mildred is his very jealous, crazy thirty-five year old wife. They've been married for ten years. Edward has an octaroon mistress, Clio. He's had her since right before he married Mildred. He has two sons with Clio and two daughters with his wife. Edward isn't able to visit Clio that often because he's scared his wife will find out. Clio, not knowing Hesters age but knowing she's young, encourages Edward to have sex with her whenever he wants to. And he does.

Edward hirers a thirty-six year old ex-lawyer named Beau Kidd to be his daughters' tudor. He takes a liking to Hester and offers to give her private school lessons in exchange for sex. She's desperate to learn, to read and write so she agrees, reluctantly. That sexual relationship and the one with Edward continues for a few years. One night Edward sneaks out of bed to go visit Hester in her bedroom. She's now seventeen. They're having sex when Mildred opens the door on them. She tells him she knows about Clio and their children together because she's had him followed. She stabs Edward in the throat with Hester's scissors and kills him. She's sent to a mental institution and the children are told both parents died in a carriage accident.

PART THREE: THE SHOWBOAT
All the slaves are to be sold off. So Hester runs away at night. She ends up on a showboat called the Mississippi Magnola. This part of the story is really boring. She becomes an actress on the showboat, the same boat the her beloved Phil is an actor on. She's disguised as an American Indian, paints her skin darker, wears a dark wig and everything, but after a while, Phil recognizes her. He tells her that he still wants to marry her. She still refuses him, telling him it'll ruin his life if anyone finds out she's black. One night, like before, she runs away.

PART FOUR: THE REFUGE
She wakes up one day very sick. She's at the home of Beula and Bud Carpender. Their son, Chess, lives there too. She'd been bitten twice by snakes and almost died. All three family members are part of the Underground Railroad. One night, a slave couple and their baby show up. Bud and Beula hid them. Searchers come looking for them and they're found. One of the men takes the baby by the legs and smashes it's head into a tree and kills it. The men recognize Hester from the wanted posters, since she's a runaway slave, but they all convince the men that she's not them, she's someone named Mary and is married to Chess.

Hester decides to leave the place and go hide out at with her parents on Thorne's plantation, where she was born. She knows the slaves won't tell on her. Once there, she decides to tell George that she's there and askes him to buy her from the people who took over Edward's plantation. He tells her he will....if she becomes his mistress. At this point, George is married to Eve, who's parents own a neighboring plantation.

At this point, she's seventeen and George is twenty-three. He makes Hester marry a slave named Proteus. He's very violent and rapes her orally on their wedding night and physically abuses her. The next day, George tries to rape Hester outside, where he's followed her, because she doesn't want to have sex outside where they can be seen. Phil just happens to see it. Phil was there in the first place because he figured that Hester would have gone back to her parents home to hide out after she ran away from him on the Mississippi Magnolia. Phil and George get into a knife fight and George almost dies.

PART FIVE: RETRIBUTION
Beula Carpender, who figured out who Hester was, has come to the plantation to tell everyone a secret. She gathers everyone in the family around. She tells them about Thorne's wife, Justine, running away with another man after she and Thorne's only child, Rosalie, was born. After Rosalie grew up, she got pregnant by twin brothers. She liked and wanted to marry Robert Millhouse. They began a sexual relationship with each other. She then was told by Robert that he and his identical twin brother Richard, had both been having sex with her. She was horrified and didn't know which one was the father. She had the baby and was told it was stillborn. She ended up marrying George's father, Seth, not long after giving birth. He never knew she was pregnant since she was kept hidden away so that only a few people knew about the pregnancy.

The best part of the story is finding out what happened with the 'stillborn' baby. I can't bring myself to give spoilers, since it's the most interesting part of the entire story. Farfetched, but good anyway. Hester and Phil do get their happily ever after.

MY THOUGHTS: I really liked this story. A couple of things weren't too plausible but I can overlook that since I found the rest to be entertaining. I thought the part where Hester ran away and became an actress was very boring and uninteresting. I don't care a thing about the world of acting.

The character Proteus, the slave who unofficially married Hester, came out of nowhere. I don't like, or understand, why he was made to be so violent. He didn't have much of a part in the story. I thought the whole marriage was pointless and unnecessary to the story. It should have been left out.

Without giving away the ending, I'll say that even though part of it was farfetched it was still a bit suspenseful. I'd already guessed it.

SATAN'S MISTRESS by Rachel Cosgrove Payes with Author Photos

PUBLISHER: Playboy Paperbacks, March 1981
SETTING: England, 1753
HEROINE: Fiona McQuade
HERO: Will Huxley
BODICE RIPPER? No
VIRGIN HEROINE: Yes
RAPED HEROINE: Yes
GRADE: C

FROM PUBLISHER: With dizzying speed, beautiful Fiona McQuade went from shopgirl to protΓ©gΓ© of a duke and duchess. Dazzled by the luxurious living, Fiona forgot her lowly origins and even dreamed of marrying Viscount Will Huxley, the duchess's handsome lover. But of course the arrogant duke and duchess had other plans for the lovely Fiona. They all were members of the dreaded Hellfire Club: jaded nobility who satiated their decadent desires on the young and innocent. And so the unawakened Fiona was ravished by many men, the handsome Will Huxley among them. She had been sold into sexual slavery, and Fiona vowed they all would pay, even the man she loved.

This was meant to be a full spoiler summary that I did over ten years ago but I never completed it or wrote an actual review. I've posted it anyway.

PARTIAL SPOILER SUMMARY: Sixteen-year old Fiona McQuade came from Edinburgh. She is a shop assistant at her aunt Eulalia's 'exclusive' millinery shop. Fiona lives above the shop. She's running across the street in the rain to get back to the shop when she was almost run down by a carriage. Will Huxley saved her by pulling her out of the way. Will and his married mistress Sarah came into the shop to pick up Sarah's hats. Sarah likes Fiona's work and hires her on the spot to be her wardrobe maid. She goes to live with Sarah and her husband.

Sarah tells Fiona that she needs to get married so throws a party to introduce her to Sarah's friends. Fiona is attracted to Will. He danced with Fiona and Sarah caught him with his hands on her breast. Sarah plans for Fiona to go to a picnic with Thornton Werington, whom Fiona met at the party the night before. Medmenham Abbey is where they are to picnic and attend a masquerade ball. Before the picnic, a maid that Fiona works with tells her that Sarah's husband is a member of the Hell-Fire Club and that they kidnap virgins and rape them.

Inside there are people wearing costumes. Two women that are dressed like nuns come up to Fiona and Thorton and have Fiona follow them. They tell her to strip down and put on a habit too and give her drugged wine, which she doesn't know is drugged. They lead her into a chapel where there were monks. They laid her on the altar, opened up her robe, spread her legs for her and allowed the men to have their way with her. They didn't know they were raping her because she wasn't protesting. They always have sex with someone, so they think she's there willingly. She doesn't protest either because she's drugged out of her mind. As Will Huxley was about to rape her, the drug started wearing off and she did start to protest and claw at his face but he raped her anyway. Then she passed out.

The next morning, Sarah and her husband got on her case about being at the 'orgy.' Fiona told them she knew they'd arranged it. She packed her things and snuck out of the house. She went back to her aunt's shop to work. Sarah went there and asked about Fiona. The aunt said shw worked there. Sarah said if Fiona continued to work there, Sarah would take her business elsewhere and tell her friends not to shop there. Fiona got a new job. Sarah found out about it and told Fiona's boss that she is a slut who consorts with members of the Hell-Fire Club.
